Headed to iCast This Week

Scott Ruprecht - Monday, July 11, 2016

*Make Your Tickets Mean More - On every sports ticket or travel package you buy, a portion of our profits gives kids a chance to experience games like you do. Kids who otherwise can't do it on their own.

We are headed to iCast this week in Orlando. We have our roots in the outdoor industry and look forward to spending time with friends from SMITH, Grundens, HUK, Yeti, etc.

In addition to sports tickets and travel packages to events like The Masters, NASCAR, Final Four - we have several outdoor adventures. Guatemala Billfishing (the best in the world), Amazon Peacock Bass Fishing, Belize Fly Fishing and The Yukon. We have fished all these destinations and they are outstanding! When these packages are purchased by clients we will dedicate a portion of those profits on getting youth outside to partake in this activity.

Austin ticket company startup sends disadvantaged kids to ballgames

An Austin entrepreneur has launched a ticket company that dedicates a portion of profits to send disadvantaged children to sporting events.

Scott Ruprecht founded Giveback Sports LLC in May as a way to generate business while providing youths with pastime activities.

“We want to give underprivileged kids the chance to go to games, watch their favorite players, role models, et cetera,” he said. “Something they may not be able to do on their own.”

The company, which is based in Ohio and operates an Austin office, employs two workers. It’s self-funded and held its first giveback event at a May 21 University of Texas baseball game with children from the Gus Garcia Leadership Academy and The Rise Program, Ruprecht said.

Ruprecht is also the founder of Ohio-based Sportfishing Wordwide LLC and Sailfish Bay, a 25-person Guatemalan company he sold in 2011. Giveback Sports markets high-end travel packages to sporting events such as tennis and golf tournaments.

Last week, the Halcyon Incubator, an affiliate of the Washington, D.C.-based S&R Foundation, reported that Austin ranks No. 3 in the nation as a city to start a social impact business. Washington, D.C., and San Francisco ranked No. 1 and 2 respectively.

We love to fly fish at Giveback Sports and offer several outdoor travel packages. We had the opportunity June 20 - 27 to fish the Hannibal Bank in Panama with a great group and scout out a new program we will be offering to our clients.

Attendees:

Capt Wild Bill - Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch"

Steve Dougherty - Editor, Florida Sport Fishing

Ozzy Delgado - Senior Marketing Manager, Grundens

Raymond Douglas - CEO, King Sailfish Mounts

Scott Ruprecht - Founder & President, Giveback Sports

The fishing was spectacular. Species caught on the trip were yellowfin tuna (largest 170 lbs.), roosterfish, bluefin trevally, cubera snapper and jacks. Several tuna were caught over 100 lbs. We will have some exciting news regarding this new program and some additional events with Wild Bill!

Giveback Event - Texas vs Baylor Baseball Game

Scott Ruprecht - Tuesday, May 31, 2016

On Saturday May 21st, 7 students from Gus Garcia Leadership Academy and 2 from The Rise Up Program in Austin attended the Texas Longhorns vs Baylor Bears baseball game with us.

It was our kick-off event for Giveback Sports and the launch of our giving program. It could not have gone any better!

The kids had a blast at their first game. Prior to the game everyone received a private tour of the Moncrief-Neuhaus Athletic Center.  They were able to see the Heisman Trophies of former Longhorn Stars Earl Campbell, Ricky Williams, The National Championship Trophies and more!

In the middle of the 6th inning one of our kids was able to stand on the University of Texas dugout and call out a reply to the crowd. He did an amazing job and UT gave him a Longhorns t-shirt, iTunes and Nike Gift card.

What a thrill for this young man.

Giveback Sports also arranged with The University of Texas for the kids to run the bases and toss a baseball around in the outfield after the game. The Longhorns defeated Baylor with a win in their last game of the season. Hook ‘em!

A special thank you to Cisco Garcia and Jordan Chaplik from Gus Garcia Young Men’s Leadership Academy and Gil Parra from The University of Texas for working with us on this special event.

“Thank you again for today!! The boys had an awesome time. On the way out of the game they were all saying how great it felt to have something to do over the weekend so we really appreciate Giveback Sports and their mission.” - Jordan Chaplik, Gus Garcia Leadership Academy
